How Different Points Can Make Different Lines

How Different Points Can Make Different Lines

If you’ve read the Rap Manual, you should already have an idea how the point-system works.  Now I’m going to talk to you about how to use different points to make different lines.

Remember the manual says the standard rap line starts with point 1 and ends o point 8.  Another common starting point is at point 2 which also ends on point 8.

So let’s explore how different points can make different lines.  The great thing about the point-system is you can use these points to construct your verses.  For example you can combine points 2-8 with 2-1.  So lets take a look at how four bars looks when you use different points to make different lines.

Bar 1                           2-8
Bar 2                           2-1
Bar 3                           2-8
Bar 4                           2-1

Another four bar example looks like this:

Bar 1                           2-4, 5-8
Bar 2                           3-8
Bar 3                           2-4, 5-8
Bar 4                           3-8

Sometimes you’ll write a song and the hook over laps the beginning of your verse.  No problem when this happens because using the point-system you can recognize where points fall you’ll be able to jump in the verse regardless where it over laps, which in some case will have you starting your verse on points 3, 4 or 5.

Hopefully this article has helped give you a better understanding how different points make different lines.  Practice using different line combinations in your raps and see what you can come up with.  The point-system gives you the potential to find an unlimited amount of rhyme schemes and combos.
