Your Own Home Studio – Part 1 of 2

“One of the biggest investments you can make as a rapper is to invest into your own studio.  It will cut studio costs and give you the option to create at any given moment.  Read more Below”

Lets talk about investing in a studio that will fit your needs.  You’re a rapper so you definitely need a studio to record.  The studio to a rapper is one of the most important assets that you can have.  If you don’t have the means to afford your own studio then you’ll have to settle for one that’s more suitable for your budget.

Investing in your own home studio really isn’t as hard as you may think.  I’m all about helping the next artist get closer to his or her dreams.  Its hard enough trying to break into this industry as is, take it from somebody who knows all to well.

I’ve been rapping for years, going from studio to studio.  I’ve been to my fair share of home studios, some in a closet others better than some of your high paid studios,  and one thing I can admit too is its nothing like having your own in house studio.

The feeling of not having to search for a decent studio to record and being able to create a song as soon as you get an idea is a wonderful feeling.  Having a mic on hand at any given moment makes you appreciate your art form that much more.

Some people say you can afford one but I saved a little bit from every check before I was able to get my first studio (Which wasn’t much at the time).  Not only that but I baught my set up one piece at a time.  Soon as I saved up enough money for the mic I got what I needed.
Omega Studios In Maryland – My Engineer T and Jim (Jim Handles Mastering But T is who I take my recordings to, to get mixed.

I knew from going to so many studios what mic I wanted, which was a “Blue Bird” I might add.  I recorded my first EP on a “Bird” and fell in love with it ever since.  As a rapper all we really need is a microphone to record with and the rest can be taken care of with a nice engineer.  A great engineer can do wonders with vocals recorded with a half way decent mic.

The benefits of having your own studio should make you jump on trying to get your own.  With my home studio I was able to wake up and record in the middle of the night.  Didn’t have to call a soul or set up some studio time.  I don’t know how many times I got an idea and recorded a song and wasn’t able to actually record it until I could book studio time.  Which could turn in to days even weeks depending on where you go.  By that time the feeling is gone and hard to capture.

Here are 6 elements that you need right now to have your own home studio.
1.Microphone
2.Pop Filter
3.Mic Stand
4.Head Phones
5.Personal Computer

In PART 2 we’ll touch on each of these briefly and I’ll even have a recording done on my own home studio set up.
